The Ullswater Steamers have been sailing on the lake since 1859.
GlenriddingSailingSchool. Having decided to learn, or to improve your
sailing, the choice is yours: either to teach yourself or to be taught professionally. The former may sometimes be cheaper, but it is less
fraught, more fun, and also quicker to learn with us, under the guidance of a qualified instructor.

Rheged
is the largest grass covered building in Europe and many visitors to the centre travel from far and
wide to admire this breathtaking building & its many attractions inside.
Rookin House Farm
is an established adventure venue and has been offering a wide variety of outdoor activities for
over 20 years. Family owned and operated, Rookin House has a strong focus on both fun and safety. The centre is just 4 miles from Ullswater,
and 8 miles from both Keswick and Penrith and easily accessible from the A66. All of the activities are based on one site with Blencathra
providing a spectacular Lakeland backdrop.
Dalemain Near Ullswater, on the Northern fringes of
the Lake District, Dalemain is a real
treasure. The fantastic Lake Districthistoric house and gardens
contains behind its Georgian facade, a wealth of Tudor and Mediaeval rooms and buildings. There has been a settlement at
Dalemain since Saxon times, when a fortified pele tower is mentioned and the present day courtyard is testimony to the defensive nature of the
hamlet surrounding that tower.
We protect and open to the public over 300 historic houses and gardens and
49 industrial monuments and mills.
